Seeing the Fruit of Long-Term Ministry

Since 2007, the Biblical Institute has published Kairos, an evangelical theological journal committed to combining academic depth with practical relevance for the life of the church. What began with humble beginnings has now continued for nearly two decades, with two issues published each year in both Croatian and English.

From the beginning, Kairos was shaped by Stanko Jambrek, the founding editor and one of the key figures behind the journal. When he was no longer able to continue leading Kairos, its future became uncertain. Yet the publication continued, carrying forward the same vision of providing theologically sound, academically rigorous, and accessible resources for the church.

The purpose of Kairos has remained consistent: to strengthen believers, support church leaders, and encourage deeper engagement with Scripture. Maintaining the balance between theological depth and accessibility continues to be central to the journal’s mission. Although the journal began with humble beginnings, it has now published two issues per year for nearly two decades. Throughout that time, God has provided in countless ways, including through the faithful financial support of Eastern European Mission. One of the ongoing goals of the journal has been to maintain a balance between theological depth and accessibility for the wider church. Even when future issues at times seemed uncertain, both the Croatian and English editions have continued moving toward publication.

Recently, during a church visit in Dalmatia, a church member referenced Kairos while speaking about personal spiritual growth and learning from Scripture. What made the moment especially meaningful was that he was neither a theologian nor a church leader, but an ordinary believer who had found the journal valuable for personal study and growth.

Moments like these serve as reminders that the fruit of ministry is often quiet and unseen for long periods of time. Much of the work involved in teaching, publishing, and serving can feel slow and uncertain, especially when visible results are limited. Yet experiences like this reveal how God continues to use faithful, long-term work to impact lives and strengthen the church.

This year, Kairos will celebrate its twentieth anniversary. Each issue continues to stand as a testimony to God’s faithfulness and to a Croatian ministry project that serves readers locally and internationally while remaining committed to the growth of the church in Croatia.
